The role.
Our studio is growing, and we want our finances kept as clean as our code. We're looking for someone to handle the day-to-day accounting and give us a clear read on our numbers: payables and receivables, bank reconciliations, payroll and remittances, cash-flow tracking, and financial-statement prep. A part-time engagement — 5 to 10 hours a week, on a flexible schedule, remote or in-office with us as you prefer — that can grow with the studio.
This is an autonomous, trusted engagement: you carry the file end to end, without close supervision, and our numbers pass through your hands. We're looking for someone rigorous and discreet, comfortable working solo while staying close to a team that likes to understand its data. Succeeding here means clean books, remittances filed on time, and business decisions backed by numbers we can trust. Few hours a week — but a role that genuinely matters.
What you'll do.
- Handle day-to-day accounting: payables, receivables, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare payroll and remittances (source deductions, GST/QST) on time.
- Track cash flow and prepare periodic financial statements.
- Give us a clear read on the numbers to support decisions.
- Prepare year-end files for financial statements and tax filing.
- Solid bookkeeping experience and command of the full accounting cycle.
- Comfortable with a common accounting package — QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent.
- Good grasp of Quebec and federal tax obligations: GST/QST, source deductions, and remittances.
- Rigor, discretion, and an eye for detail — our numbers have to be right, every time.
- Autonomy: you carry the file end to end, without close supervision.
- You work from Quebec.
- CPA designation, or working toward it.
- Experience in a firm or within a services or technology company.
- Curious about a bit of automation — we like to eliminate manual data entry.
- An eye for the numbers: help build simple budgets and forecasts.
- Bilingual FR/EN.
