The context

Three generations of know-how in mining services, concrete, aggregates, transport and civil engineering: Fournier is 1,200+ employees, 850+ specialized pieces of equipment, and large-scale projects across dozens of job sites in Eastern Canada.

The problem

Every day, hundreds of paper timesheets piled up across the job sites. The same number was keyed in up to three times: compiled by hand in Excel for cost tracking, scanned and sent to payroll, then printed again by the payroll team and re-entered manually into the ERP. Hours of compiling and corrections every week, and frequent payroll errors.

What we built

A mobile application field employees and mechanics use to enter their time directly — allocated to the right projects, activities or work orders. The app also captures premiums and equipment usage hours, which feed the maintenance system.

Behind the app: a multi-level approval platform, a payroll-export management module, and flexible per-project configurations to match the reality of each job site. The system is also used by subcontractors, and works on CCQ-governed and non-union job sites alike.

The results

  • Hundreds of timesheets completed and approved every day, paper-free
  • Payroll processed by a team half the size
  • Payroll errors cut by more than half
  • Dozens of hours a week recovered from compiling, corrections and manual data entry
  • Cost tracking and equipment maintenance fed continuously
