Industrial construction contractor

Requisitions managed end to end, from the job site to shipping.

Preparation underway: the requisition tracked through to shipping.

The context

A long-established industrial construction and services contractor working across many trades: electrical, mechanical, piping, insulation and scaffolding, cranes, tank fabrication.

Where they started

Requisitions travelled in a spreadsheet sent by email, with no tracking once a request went out. Job sites called to find out where their tools were, and equipment inspections stayed in the garages’ own system.

What we built

  • A web and mobile platform where employees submit all their requisitions (material, equipment, tools, cranes, site trailers, fabrication) and track their status from start to finish. It is integrated with the business management system for orders and receiving.
  • Service departments prepare the items and run inspections on the same platform; shipping then takes over with its own module.
  • A search agent understands what requesters mean, typos and shop-floor slang included. Ask for an “ole saw”: it knows you need a circular saw.

The results

  • One platform, from requester to shipping, on mobile and on the web.
  • Requisitions traceable from start to finish.
  • Fewer incomplete requisitions and “where is my order?” calls.
  • Fewer errors and less back-and-forth to understand the need.
  • Equipment inspections visible to everyone.
